A classic expedition-type pack, built on the same chassis as the Whitney and Palisade. If your idea of backcountry travel involves many days away from home and/or the hauling of lots of gear, consider the Wind River. It boasts a simple, single main compartment design, and Gregory has handily solved the limitations of top loading by adding front panel access, similar to that on the Denali Pro. Suspension and harness is stout and comfortable, easily able to shift huge loads off your back and onto your hips, but without the inherent extra weight that hinders many other large packs. Skis are easily accommodated by the side compression straps, and the front access panel doubles as a pocket for the things you want to keep easily accessible.
