Jack Roberts has compiled a guidebook of classic ice climbs in Colorado. Here's an excerpt from his introduction:

"To write a guidebook covering all of the ice-climbing routes in Colorado would be quite a fomidable task, and right away I knew I didn't want to do that, at least not for the first volume of the guide. Because ice climbing is so dependent on the weather, I decided to focus on routes that consistently form-up each year, offer some classic or unique quality to the climbing experience, and expose people to areas that haven't seen much traffic and deserve more attention. I've also included the most popular and well-known ice climbs in the state, primarily because they are classics and worthy of mention."

"For simplicity's sake, I decided to concentrate primarily on hardwater or waterfall routes instead of offering all manner of ice climbing possibilities such as alpine routes in the high mountains. I have included some of these, but their inclusion in the guide suggests some other attractive feature such as the popularity of the route or some highly classic feature or quality that must not be missed."
