Long distance backpackers and adventure racers rejoice! The Caiman is the answer to total protection with minimal weight. OR took their Crocodiles and stripped them down to 7.4 oz. per pair/size Large (a 3.6 oz. savings) without compromising their legendary fit and function. A featherweight GORE-TEX® XCR™ top section and a single layer of coated Cordura in the foot section lighten up the fabric components considerably. We've also contoured the burly Cordura foot section to target the best protection where it's needed most. We also narrowed down the Velcro strip on the front opening but it still allows easy entry. The same, tough, nylon-supported instep strap from the original Crocodile keeps the gaiter put. The Crocodile is the best option if you're planning for lots of crampon usage, otherwise the Caimans are plenty tough for long miles on or off the trail.
