No rain has ever been recorded in most areas of this desert in northern Chile. The classic "flats fishing" hat, the Atacama, provides about as much sun protection as you'd ever need on the most sun-baked beaches and glaciers. Constructed from SolarLite fabric with a skirt that is generous enough to protect the cheeks when pulled forward by the adjustable chin cord and it can also be pulled back and tucked conveniently through the rear opening when el sol isn't blazing down. The stitched bill can be stuffed in to a pocket or pack without losing its shape, and a Velcro Cinch-Strap ensures a snug fit. All of this and a style that won't make you feel like a 'dweeb'.
